etween 1958 and 1962 Lionel would send their boxes for the sets listed here to Bachmann so that the component pieces could be added. Starting in 1959 Lionel also would provide them with the illustrations (instruction sheets) to be included with these sets. Although these sets were not cataloged after 1962, Lionel is known to have included them in various promotional outfits between 1963 and 1966. Most likely it is only the promotional sets that were issued in the year 1963 in which Lionel would have used up their existing stock of these boxes. Subsequent years would not be packaged in Lionel’s ORANGE boxes.

We’ve listed the quantity of pieces included in each set according to what Lionel showed in their yearly catalogs. In these sets Lionel would have components from a number of different Plasticville kits. This might have been considered to be somewhat underhanded in that it presented to the Lionel consumer what was undoubtedly believed by many to be an original Lionel product. The number of pieces that Lionel stated was not accurate since this count would not reflect accurately the number of walls and detail parts used on each Plasticville structure. Instead Lionel usually counted each structure as one item.

The value of these kits are mainly tied up in the boxes that Lionel supplied to Bachmann. There are four main types of boxes, although collectors have identified many sub-types that display minor differences in these boxes.
