The Lehigh Valley Hopper Car No. 6476-160 was cataloged in the last year of Post War production: 1969. It was included in sets No. 11750 and 11760 that were headed up by a No. 2029 Locomotive. It is also found in uncataloged sets from the late 1960’s.
Produced on a Type VI BLACK plastic body that has WHITE lettering, this hopper car shows the number "25000" on the sides of the car, but the number "6476" does not appear on the sides, nor is there a new (built) date or any other Lionel production number. The production number is only shown on the box end. This car is most closely associated with the 6176 Series because it is sometimes found with one operating disc coupler and one non-operating solid coupler.
Almost all of the 6476 cars are distinguished by the fact that they have AAR trucks with operating couplers at both ends, but there is no brake wheel. Came in a Hagerstown checkerboard box with the inscription "6476-160 / HOPPER CAR" on the ends. There are no variations. |
