The Lionel 2 Dome Tank CarsThe Lionel Lines 2-Dome No. 6465 began production with a Type 9 frame in 1959, and was also available from 1963 through 1966. The unpainted body of the tank car was held to the frame with tabs and this car has rubber-stamped lettering on the sides.

Equipped with AAR trucks, there would be different couplers that were used on these trucks.

There are three variations:

Variation A: Came with an unpainted BLACK tank that was a component of the Alaska set No. 1611 issued in 1959. It has two operating disc couplers.

No. 6465-160 Picture Box End Variation C

Variation B: Came with an unpainted ORANGE tank with BLACK ends and lettering. Most of the time this car is found with one operating disc coupler and one non-operating solid coupler.

Variation C: Same as Variation B except it came in a picture box labeled "6465-160," and has two disc couplers. It was available for separate sale in 1964.
