The Lionel Baltimore & Ohio No. 626 Switcher was issued only in 1957 and used an unpainted BLUE body and has YELLOW heat-stamped lettering that was mounted on a YELLOW sheet metal chassis. It has a Type IID motor, one axle Magnetraction, operating disc couplers, and a three position directional unit that was adjustable from underneath the chassis. There are headlight lens at both ends of this diesel, however, only one end is lighted.
This engine is among the rarest of this type of diesel. There are no variations.
All of the Lionel GE 44-Ton Switchers were issued for use on O27 Gauge track and they will operated equally well on the larger radius O Gauge track. |
