Lionel Trains Operating Coal Unloading Car No. 3459The Operating Coal Unloading Car No. 3459 would unload coal into a No. 160 Track Side Unloading Bin with the use of a No. 6019 or UCS track section. Early 1946 issues would come with a metal track side bin that is shown to the right. Bin Dimensions: Length: 6-1/4", Width: 2", Height: 7/8".

This car could also be used in conjunction with the No. 97 Coal Elevator and the No. 397 Operating Coal Loader Accessories. It is of all metal construction, with the top dump bin made out of aluminum that has heat-stamped lettering, and it has electronic coil couplers, and brake wheels on each end.

Produced from 1946 until 1948, there would be three variations:

Variation A: Has an unpainted ALUMINUM finished bin with DARK BLUE lettering. This is the most difficult version to find.

Variation B: Has a BLACK painted bin that has WHITE lettering and is the most common variation.

Variation C: Has a GREEN painted bin with WHITE lettering and is a little harder to find than the B Variation.
