Lionel Trains Operating Helium Car No. 3362The Operating Helium Dump Car No. 3362/3364 was produced in 1961 through 1963 and again in 1965 through the last year of post-war production in 1969. In 1965, 1966, and 1968 this car was issued and boxed with three wooden logs under the No. 3364, however the car itself was still numbered "3362." See Varation B below. There are three variations:

Variation A: GREEN plastic dump car that would operate with the use of a No. 6019 or UCS section and dump the tanks into a line side No. 160 bin. The WHITE lettering was was rubber-stamped on the side. This car came with three wooden helium tanks and has either early or late AAR trucks with combinations of disc or fixed couplers. Produced between 1961 and 1963.

Varaition B: Came with three wooden logs in an ORANGE picture box labeled "No. 3364 / LIONEL / LOG / UNLOADING CAR" that has AAR trucks and is found with either one or two operating disc couplers. Came with No. 3364-10 Instruction Sheet that is dated 4/65.

Variation C: was produced in 1969 only and has no lettering on the side. Came with only two helium tanks and late AAR trucks with one operating and one fixed coupler in an undersized Hagerstown checkerboard box marked "3362/3364 / OPERATING / UNLOADING CAR" that is shown below. Shown to the right is the instruction sheet (No. 3362-15) dated 6-61 that came with this variation.

Note: Since the lettering on these cars is easy to remove the value of Variation C listed above is dependent upon inclusion of the box. Collectors should also be aware of the fact that the helium tanks have been reproduced.
