The Lionel Pennsylvania GG-1 No. 2332 was the first release of this engine in 1947. Lionel would continue to produce this engine, as they ironed out production problems for another two years. All versions of this engine had five rubber-stamped stripes and lettering, and it is very hard today to find examples that have not faded. This electric engine was lighted at both ends that have operating coil couplers. Not equipped with Magnetraction, a three position directional unit controlled a single angle-mounted worm drive motor, and it was equipped with a vibrator box AC controled horn. The wiring can be changed so that the metal twin pantographs actually power this engine.
There are six variations:
Variation A: BLACK body that has a rubber-stamped keystone and five GOLD stripes. First production of 1947. |
