The Lionel SP Caboose No. 2257 A Variation The Lionel SP Caboose No. 2257 C Variation

The Lionel SP Type CaboosesThe Lionel SP Type Caboose No. 2257 was issued concurrently with the No. 2357 in 1947, but unlike this issue, it was only available for one year. It is not illuminated and does not have all of the added details that were available with the No. 2357, see the variations listed below. It was equipped with staple-end trucks and one coil coupler.

Variation A: RED, used Die 1 or 2, no smoke stack, and was issued in set No. 1423W.
Variation B: same as A except ORANGE/RED color.
Variation C: TUSCAN painted over a clear plastic. Some copies came with ladders and all of this variation have a plastic smoke stack that is also painted TUSCAN.

 No. 2257 Art Deco Box End

The C Variation is more difficult to locate and the plastic smoke stack is often found chipped or otherwise damaged.
