Lionel Trains Santa Fe FA A Unit No. 221

Lionel Trains FA A Unit DieselThe Lionel Santa Fe FA A Unit No. 221 would not be shown in the 1963 or 1964 consumer catalog, but headed up the uncataloged military set No. 19434 available through Sears. This engine’s body would have the coupler pocket in the front filled in and was mounted on a sheet metal frame that had a solid non-operating rear coupler. Examples have been found with both a forward only and two-position directional unit. Not equipped with Magnetraction, the power truck had one traction tire on the right rear wheel. Note that the ornamental horn has been removed from the roof and the mounting pocket has been filled in. There are no variations.

This engine was issued to run on set issued with O27 track, but it will run equally well on O gauge track.
