The Lionel Tunnel No. 119 was available in 1957 and 1958. This tunnel was similar to the pre-war version, with which it shares the same number, save that the pre-war version, produced 1920-42, was made out of metal, and this post-war copy was made out of thin plastic that was vacu-formed. The fact that the plastic is so thin means that it is often found cracked especially at the apex of the curved entrances.
Life-Like made most of the Lionel scenery items that were sold during the Post War period, but it is in doubt that they made this tunnel for Lionel.
There are no known variations and too few sales to establish a value for this accessory. What ever value it finds, there is no doubt that this item is so rare that Greenberg in the past has questioned the validity of its manufacture even though it is shown in the consumer catalogs. The reason for this was that it wasn't until recently that a box has been found that contains it. If you have a box for this item we would like to document it on these pages.
