Lionel Trains Lubricating and Maintenance Kit No. 928The Lubricating Oil No. 927-90 was most likely the assembly number that Lionel assigned to this small ORANGE capsule and the cellophane packaging that contained it. This is because the same capsule and cellophane packaging was issued as assembly No. 1103-20 in a manila envelope numbered 1103-21.

This lubricant capsule packaging has been found in an uncataloged set that was headed up by a No. 200 Series Locomotive that was issued in 1963. We are sure that is was issued in other sets circa 1963 and it may also have been issued in separate sale locomotives or diesel engines of this period.

Additional research is necessary. If you have this ORANGE lubricating capsule in an original set in this packaging we would like to document the set number. Please use the "Contact" link at the bottom of this page to get in touch with us.

Lionel states on this cellophane wrapper in DARK BLUE text the details about how to open the capsule and to use a thumb tack to seal the opening after use.

For all of you dedicated Lionel collectors this is a difficult item to find in the original packaging. There are no variations.
