The Western Pacific Box Car No. 6464-1 was the first of 6464 Box Cars that was manufactured and was available in 1953 and 1954. This car is usually found on a painted SILVER Type I body and Single Block Doors. Only the number designation of "6464" is printed on the sides of the car and on the Early Classic Box ends. It was equipped with bar-end trucks that have magnetic couplers. There are six variations:
Variation A: Is a pre-production example that has a body type that is sometimes referred to as "Type IA". This type of body has interior roof ribs cast into the mold. This variation is found with common MEDIUM BLUE lettering.
Variation B: Produced on a Type I body this variation has RED lettering. A rare variation.
Variation C: Identical to Variation B except with BRIGHT BLUE lettering. |
