These signs, that are illustrated to the right, are made from metalized embossed foil that have an adhesive on the back and they came with the Type 2 trailers that were issued with the No. 6430. Note that the "FRUEHAUF" sign has a BLACK background with SILVER letters which defines the difference with the Type 1 trailer.

The larger "Dura-Van" sign is found attached to the top middle of the front of the trailers and the "FRUEHAUF" sign is located to the left of the "Dura-Van" Sign at the bottom. Lionel ran out of these signs during the production of the Type 3 trailers so some of these trailers are without these signs.

Variation A: Has a DARK RED chassis mold No. 6511-2 with the heat-stamped number to the right of the "LIONEL" inscription. Bar-end trucks are attached to the metal end clips that are screwed to the chassis and also hold the metal racks that retain the vans. Found with two Type 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 trailers. Most prevalent are the GRAY Type 4 trailers with ALUMINUM "COOPER-JARRETT" signs. Produced in 1956 and 1957. Note: Some of the 1957 production cars have been found with AAR trucks directly riveted to the metal end plates.

Variation C: Has a LIGHT RED chassis that uses mold No. 6511-2. Came with two Type 10 or Type 11 Trailers that have a hole drilled to accommodate the Midgetoy tractor that was used with the No. 6431.
