The Lionel N5C Porthole Type CaboosesThe Lehigh Valley N5C Porthole Caboose No. 6417-50 was only available in 1954, and for some unknown reason Lionel marked this caboose with the number "641751." The actual number is 6417-50 according to the Lionel Service Manual which lists this number for the body. It came with bar-end trucks that have magnetic or tabbed couplers. There are two variations:

Variation A: GRAY painted body with DARK RED heat-stamped lettering. Came with bar-end trucks that do not have tabbed couplers.

Variation B: TUNSCAN painted BLACK body with WHITE heat-stamped lettering that is found with, or without tabbed couplers. The fact that some of this issue has tabbed couplers indicates a later production that may have occurred in 1955. This is most likely a factory error and this variation is difficult to find.
