Automobile Flat Car No. 6404 was first shown in the 1960 Advanced catalog and did not appear in the consumer catalog this year. This car was part of an economically priced Huntsman Steamer Set that Lionel made for the toy market. This set was also not shown in the consumer catalog. This BLACK car used mold No. 1877-3 and came with braces and arch-bar trucks that have solid non-operating couplers. Printed on the sides in WHITE heat-stamped lettering is the number "6404" and "BUILT BY LIONEL." There are two variations:

Variation A: As above. Note that this was the first car that came with automobiles that had GRAY bumpers.

Variation B: Came without braces and is equipped with AAR trucks that have operating disc couplers. Came with a MAUVE colored auto and is beleived to be from Merchants’ Green Stamp Set.
