The Lionel SP Type CaboosesThe Lionel Lines Caboose No. 6017 was produced beginning in 1951 and continued until 1962. It was used in Lionel’s more economically priced sets and really isn’t taken very seriously by collectors today. Which is why there is information that is lacking about the variations. During the period this caboose was in production there were many changes that occurred that encompass all of the body Die Types that Lionel used on the SP caboose. Prior to 1958, these cabooses had metal trucks, and after this year they are early AAR with disc couplers. See the table below for the details about the variations of this caboose.
