Lionel Trains Diesel Fueling Station No. 415The Lionel Diesel Fueling Station No. 415 was first available in 1955 and would continue in production for two more years. It is doubtful the production went beyond 1955 and the additional two years of catalog listings were there only to facilitate Lionel dealers sale of existing stock. Lionel put quite a bit of effort into producing this fueling station as over half of the parts that went into its construction are unique to this accessory.

Lionel believed that this diesel fuel station would follow in the tradition of some of the best selling Post War items that showed men working like the No. 145 Automatic Gateman and the No. 3662 Automatic Milk Car. The problem was that, in this case, the operating man was too small and was not visilble from one side because of the diesel that was being fueled, and from the other side because of the station house.

Activation of this accessory was by a No. 364C Controller or No. 90 Controller which was included in the box for this accessory. A No. 145C Track Contactor placed beneath the track could also be used to activate the man who would come out of the structure and the fueling hose would move into position.

This accessory has a GRAY metal base, YELLOW based fueling pipe and sand tower post, DARK BLUE man and sanding tank with WHITE "DIESEL SAND" lettering. This accessory had three electrical binding posts.

The Diesel Fueling Station came with a No. 415-126 Parts Envelope that housed the No. 90 Controller and the No. 415-124 Instruction Sheet that is illustated below.
