Operating Barrel Car No. 3562-1 Variation B No. 3562-1 Box End

Lionel Trains Operating Barrel Car No. 3562The Operating Barrel Car No. 3562-1 are the BLACK varieties of this car. First issued in 1954, the car would have the date "NEW 5-54" written on the sides of this car that would be numbered "35621," and this would be the only year that this car was available. The barrel car used a vibrator located in the car to unload the barrels into a No. 160 Unloading Bin, or the No. 362 Barrel Loader with the use of an OTC Lockon that was included with this car. This first edition of this car lacked the bracket tab that prevented the random unloading of the barrels when the car was not in use. This car came with bar-end trucks equipped with magnetic couplers, six barrels, and an unloading bin.

Included with this car was instruction sheet No. 3562-54 printed with BLACK ink on WHITE paper and dated 6-54. We’ve pictured the front and back page of this instruction sheet below.

Lionel Trains Operating Barrel Car No. 3562The Operating Barrel Car No. 3562-25 are the GRAY varieties of this car. The barrel car used a vibrator located in the car to unload the barrels into a line side bin with the use of a 6019 or UCS track section.

Operating Barrel Car No. 3562-25 C Variation

The mold was changed in 1955 to lock the unloading bracket by use of a tab when the car was not in use. This prevented the barrels from unloading at random points while moving. This car was painted GRAY over a clear body and came with bar-end trucks with magnetic couplers.

The barrel car used a vibrator located in the car to unload the barrels into a line side bin with the use of a 6019 or UCS track section. Produced in 1955 and 1956, this variation would have the date "NEW 5-54" written on the sides of this car that would be numbered "356250." The mold was changed in 1955 to lock the unloading bracket by use of a tab when the car was not in use. This prevented the barrels from unloading at random points while moving. This car came with bar-end trucks that is sometimes found with magnetic tabbed couplers. There are three variations:

The barrel car used a vibrator located in the car to unload the barrels into a line side bin. Produced in 1957 and 1958, it would have the date "NEW 5-54" written on the sides of this car that would be numbered "356275." All copies of this car are found with the bracket tab and it came equipped with bar-end trucks that have tabbed couplers. There are no variations of this car.
