The Lionel Lines Crane Car No. 2560 is the post-war version of the pre-war No. 2660 that was first issued in 1946 and was available for one additional year. The major change was the conversion to post war trucks. The original cord that held the suspended hook was WHITE, but today it is found mainly with a BLACK cord.

This crane car was produced on a BLACK sheet metal frame that have steps at the four corners. The cab is painted a glossy YELLOW and the roof is painted gloss RED. On the rear of the cab was rubber-stamped "LIONEL / LINES" and "2560" with a circled "L" above the boom elevation wheel.

This car came with staple-end trucks equipped with electronic coil couplers. There are three variations of this car:

Variation A: has a BLACK crane boom that is inscribed "LIONEL CRANE" on the sides. A pin at the end of the boom holds the pulley in place. No stake marks on the underside of the knuckle couplers. Produced in 1946.

Variation B: had a BROWN crane boom that is inscribed "LIONEL CRANE" on the sides. A nickel rivet replaces the pulley at the end of the boom. No stake marks on the underside of the knuckle couplers. Produced in 1946.

Variation C: has a GREEN crane boom that is inscribed "LIONEL CRANE" on the sides. A nickel rivet serves as a pulley at the end of the boom. With four stake marks on the underside of the knuckle couplers. Produced in 1947.
