Lionel Trains Locomotive No. 246The Lionel Columbia Type 2-4-2-Locomotive No. 246 was available from 1959 until 1961. Produced on a painted BLACK body with WHITE heat-stamped number on the cab. This locomotive was equipped with Magnetraction, and a two position directional unit whose control lever is located on the top of the boiler. There is a headlight and it has a headlight lens.

This locomotive came with either a No. 244T slope back, or a No. 1130T streamlined tender that was equipped with AAR trucks with one disc coupler. There are two variations:

Variation A: Type VII body with older Scout style mounting pin. The motor has a smooth bottom. (1959)

Variation B: Type VIII body with a knurled motor mounting pin. Has a redesigned motor with a serrated bottom. (1960-61)

This locomotive was designed to work on O27 Gauge track and it will also run on O Gauge track.
