The 2400 Series Pullman CarsThe Lionel Lines Maplewood Pullman Car No. 2400 was the first of the 2400 Series cars that were produced. Available in 1948 and 1949, this car was based on the standard Pullman prototype of the time. This car has a GREEN painted body with YELLOW window trim and stripes, and WHITE heat-stamped lettering. This passenger car is lighted by two lamps that are held in place by metal brackets that are also used to hold the roof to the body. There are no people silhouettes on the interior window inserts. It came with Type IV die-cast four-wheel passenger trucks equipped with electronic coil couplers. There are no variations.

Issued in both O27 and O Gauge sets, this car will operate equally well on each of these tracks.

Note: Collectors should check the alignment of the roof. Many of these early 2400 Series cars have the roof installed backwards at the Lionel factory. This places undue stress on the metal brackets that hold the roof in place. The rain shield end of the roof should be above the end of the car that has the doors. Both the picture above and the top view below show the roof in the incorrect position.
