The Lionel Lines Columbia Type 2-4-2-Locomotive No. 238 was available in 1963 and 1964. It has a BLACK plastic boiler with a plastic motor that has a ribbed bottom and a traction tire on the right rear driving wheel to aid in its pulling power. The motor is controled by a two position directional unit whose control lever would protrude through the top of the boiler between the two domes. This locomotive has a painted WHITE heat stamped number and running board stripe.
Equipped with a headlight, headlight lens, and a liquid smoke unit, this locomotive was only released with a No. 234W Square tender that has a whistle mounted inside and early AAR trucks one of which has a disc coupler.
There are two variations:
Variation A: Uses a Type VIII body.
Variation B: Uses a Type X body.
A version of this locomotive has been found that is lacking the painted WHITE stripe. At this time it is unknown if this was a regular production, or merely a factory error. This locomotive was designed to work on O27 Gauge track and it will also run on O Gauge track. |
