Lionel Trains GP-9 DieselsThe Lionel Minneapolis & St. Louis GP-9 No. 2348 was alailable in 1958 and 1959 and was a painted RED, WHITE, and BLUE body with RED and WHITE heat-stamped lettering and Peoria Gateway herald. Reproduction shells have silk-screened lettering.

This engine was equipped with Magnetraction, a horn that was operated by a battery that was housed in the center fuel tank, a three position directional unit whose control lever was adjustable from underneath the chassis that controlled a single vertical worm drive motor powering two axles. The body was lighted at both ends that have operating disc couplers. There are no variations.

All of the Lionel GP-9 units will operate equally well on O Gauge and O27 Gauge track.
