Produced on a BLUE body with YELLOW cab and upper stripe, and RED and YELLOW lower stripes and lettering. These diesels have the small ledge pilot that is often found in cracked or broken condition. This is a common fault that should be examined before purchase.
This diesel was the only one of the late Alco units to have a light in the dummy unit. There was no horn in the power unit that was equipped with a single vertical worm drive Type IIE motor that powered two axles and utilized Magnetraction. This engine has a three position directional unit whose control lever was adjustable from the top of the body. Both units have a sheet metal chassis that are equipped with solid non-operating couplers. There are no variations.
All of the Lionel Alco FA units are designed to work on the tighter radius of O27 Gauge track, but they will run equally well on O Gauge track. |
