The Lionel Rock Island FA No. 2031 was available from 1952 until 1954. It was produced on a BLACK body with added WHITE stripe and a RED painted center section.
Both units have a chassis that is die-cast and the front couplers are electronic, while the rear couplers are solid non-operating. The powered unit was equipped a horn that was operated by a D Cell battery, and has a three position directional unit whose control lever was adjustable from underneath the chassis. A single Type I vertical worm drive motor powers two axles that utilized Magnetraction. Both units are lighted. There are no variations.
All of the Lionel Alco FA units are designed to work on the tighter radius of O27 Gauge Track, but they will run equally well on O Gauge Track. |
