The Lionel Adriatic Type 2-6-4-Locomotive No. 2016 would share the same body casting as the No. 2037, but unlike this locomotive, this engine had neither magnetraction or a smoke unit. Produced in 1955 and 1956, it did have a three position directional unit whose control lever protruded through the top of the boiler right in front of the cab. The drive rods were cadmium plated and this engine came with a No. 6026W tender that contained a whistle, has bar-end trucks that sometimes have one tabbed coupler, and was produced for the more economical O27 Sets. The plate on the bottom of the engine that says, "LIONEL O27."
There are two variations:
Variation A: Has a WHITE rubber-stamped number on the cab.
Variation B: Has a WHITE heat-stamped number on the cab.
