Lionel Trains Locomotive No. 1862The Lionel American Type 4-4-0 Locomotive No. 1872 was a replica of the famous Civil War "General" that has a BLACK chassis, with GUNMETAL colored boiler, RED cab and GREEN No. 1872T tender labeled for the "Western and Atlantic Railroad." This locomotive was issued in Super-O sets between 1959 and 1962, and it differed from its O27 Gauge No. 1862 counterpart in the following ways:

BB It has a three position directional unit
BB It was equipped with Magnetraction and added boiler weights
BB It has a liquid smoke unit
BB GOLD boiler banding and RED highlighted domes

The 1959-60 production of this locomotive would have a RED lantern while later issues would have a BLACK lantern. There are two variations:

Variation A: would have a GRAY smoke stack.

Variation B: would have a BLACK smoke stack.
