The Lionel Switcher Type 0-4-0-Locomotive No. 1665 was available in 1946. It shares a 1662M-2 motor with the pre-war No. 1662. This BLACK painted die-cast boiler came with RED jewels on the front and a SILVER rubber-stamped number on the cab.
This engine has a three position directional unit whose control lever protrudes from the top of the boiler right in front of the sand dome and there are two electrical receptacles on the motor to accept electrical plugs from the tender.
The left hand plug was for the front electronic coupler and the other plug provided a better ground for the motor through the tender's wheels. This locomotive has a headlight lens and is lighted in the front and there is a nickel plated ornamental bell with a bracket on top.
Also See: No. 1656 for the alteration that occurred to this locomotive in 1947.
The No. 2403B tender is heat-stamped in widely separated letters "LIONEL LINES," and is equipped with an operating bell, a working back-up light, wire handrail and came with staple-end trucks that have one electronic coupler. There are no variations.
This locomotive was designed to work with O Gauge track, but it will run equally well on O27 Gauge track. |
