Lionel Trains Locomotive No. 1654The Lionel Columbia Type 2-4-2-Locomotive No. 1655 would be available for two years beginning in 1948. The number "1655" is rubber stamped on the cab of a BLACK painted die-cast body. Equipped with nickel ornamental bell and whistle on the top of the boiler, it featured wire hand rails, a light and headlight lens. A three position directional unit whose control lever protrudes through the top of the boiler just in front of the cab, controls the direction of the engine.

During 1948 Lionel sold this locomotive and tender in Canada. Because the electrical current in Canada was incompatible with Lionel’s whistle mechanism the tender has had its whistle removed resulting in the No. 6654T. This tender came in the overprinted box that is shown to the right.
