LIONEL TRAINS STATION PLATFORM No. 157 |
The Station Platform No. 157 replaced the No. 156 Station Platform in 1952 and would be available until 1955. An additional production occurred in 1958 and 1959. Unlike the No. 156 this platform’s base and roof used injected plastic instead of Bakelite. The roof supports remained die cast metal, however, they were chemically blackened instead of being painted. |
These platforms were lighted by two L51 lamps (6-8 volts each) that are wired in series. Two fence sections hold two advertising signs per section. No less than eleven different advertisements were produced for this station platform. For details showing all of the signs that Lionel produced see No. 156. Lionel produced additional fence sections, Part No. 156-5, that could be used between the end roof supports of adjoining platforms. These fence sections were sold in parts envelope No. 157-23 pictured to the right. |
Variation B: Came with a RED base and a more translucent GREEN roof. BLACK card stock paper has been inserted between the lights and the roof to prevent a glowing effect showing through the roof. 1958-59 Production. |
